A dermal piercing uses a single-point anchor implanted beneath the skin with a decorative top, unlike surface piercings which use bars. Dermals sit flush on flat areas and offer a more discrete, sculpted look when properly placed and healed.
Healing varies but most dermal piercings establish initial healing within six to twelve weeks; full tissue integration can take three to six months. Follow aftercare, avoid trauma or friction, and attend follow-up checks to help prevent migration or rejection.
Yes. We use implant-grade titanium anchors that are highly biocompatible and resistant to corrosion. Titanium greatly reduces allergic reactions compared with other metals, and all anchors are sterilized and handled with strict studio sanitation protocols.
Not every flat area is suitable. We assess skin thickness, movement, and clothing friction to determine placement. High-mobility or thin-skinned areas, hands, and feet have higher rejection risk. Your piercer will recommend safe locations and alternatives if needed.
Dermal tops come in titanium options with anodized colors, cubic zirconia, opal, flat discs, and decorative shapes. We carry pre-threaded, interchangeable tops sized to the anchor. Custom orders available — discuss size, color, and finish with your piercer.
Clean twice daily with sterile saline or a gentle saline spray, avoid harsh cleansers, swimming pools, and makeup near the site. Prevent friction from clothing, do not rotate or remove the top, and contact us promptly if redness, heat, or discharge appears.
